Union Budget 2019: New currency coins, including Rs.20 coins, to be released for public use soon

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during her Budget speech on Friday, announced that the government will shortly be releasing new rupee coins for public use. 

These coins will be in the denominations of one, two, five, 10 and 20 rupees. 

HP University to have policy for persons with disabilities

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) will be the first one in the country to have its own policy for persons with disabilities.

A committee, constituted by the Vice-Chancellor, will prepare the draft policy document which will be implemented after the approval of the Executive Council (EC).

A decision was taken at a meeting of the EC after the issue was raised by Ajai Srivastava, an EC member, holding additional charge of the nodal officer for disability affairs of the HPU.

DU admissions: Almost 10 per cent rise in registrations under PwD category

There has been an increase of almost 10 per cent in the number of registrations under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category at the Delhi University, officials said Sunday.

A total of 1,665 people have registered under this category on the varsity’s admission portal this year, including an acid attack victim and leprosy-cured persons.
 

Twenty-one conditions are included under the PwD category.

Now, kids with special needs to study with regular students

Children with special needs will now study along with regular students in secondary schools specially set up for inclusive education in the state, according to officials.

Four such schools are being set up in Prayagraj, Lucknow, Auraiya and Kannauj districts as part of a new initiative of the government.

District disabled empowerment officer, Prayagraj, Vipin Upadhyay said: “In Prayagraj, the special school is being constructed at a cost of Rs 16.97 crore in Gedurahi village of Meja development block, around 35km from the city in trans-Yamuna area.”
