While many play with colour, some may never know what it is. ‘How do the blind imagine objects?’ is a much debated question. Meet Tilak Prasad Joshi: Visually impaired marathon runner

Tilak Prasad Joshi is an outdoor games enthusiast and a participant of Oxfam Trailwalker. He is a national level football player, marathon runner and also enjoys trekking.

Despite of being visually impaired, it has not held him back from his passion. Joshi is currently working at Tata Capital Housing Finance. He uses a Screen Reader at office which enables him to use the laptop to perform various tasks.

High Court rules in favour of reservation for PWDs

Kohima, Oct. 29 (EMN): The Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench has directed the government of Nagaland to take ‘appropriate action’ as per section 33 and 34 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, and other provisions of the Act, within a period of five months so that the provisions of the Act can be fully implemented in the state.

The HC also decided that one post each for Extra Assistant Commissioner and Secretariat Assistant post be reserved for visually disabled or impaired person.

New Delhi: Being disability friendly is not just about compassion but also a lesson in business and economics, Niti Aayog chief executive Amitabh Kant said at the Equal Opportunity Awards held Wednesday.

“Persons with disabilities add immensely to businesses — research shows that inclusive companies are as likely to have twice the shareholder returns compared to their peers,” said Kant, who as chief guest at the event.

Students of the Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School for Blind in Tiruchi celebrated Childrens’ Day on Thursday. The students showcased several song and dance performances set to popular tunes. Headmistress T. Vijayalakshmi offered words of encouragement and presented the children with sweets and snacks. “We are all equal, have intelligence and strength. We must not look at ourselves as any lesser or with any shortcomings. We will take on the world with all our might,” Ms. Vijayalakshmi said as she addressed the students.
