State-owned Punjab National Bank has launched the PNB ANTAH DRISHTI Braille Debit Card, designed for visually impaired customers.
This contactless National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) debit card is available on RuPay network, PNB said in a statement.
The introduction of the new braille debit card reflects the bank’s commitment to inclusivity and financial accessibility, it said.
Bhubaneswar: Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) department principal secretary Bishnupada Sethi met with a team of Japanese delegation here, Thursday. Sethi welcomed the delegation’s proposal to set up a vocational training institute and university for visually-impaired in the state. Tsukuba University Principal Ryuchi Aoki who led the delegation said, “Tsukuba University is offering various vocational educations to differently-abled students.
Even though the case is sub judice in the Punjab and Haryana high court, the Punjab government has issued a notification to allow free travel for attendants of visually impaired individuals in the government-run buses. The notification in this regard was issued on July 29, the state transport department said.

Mumbai: BMC has started implementing Dharmaveer Anand Dighe ‘Divyang’ Financial Assistance Scheme for the differently abled aged above 18 years within its jurisdiction. BMC had announced the scheme and allocated around Rs 112 crore for it during the presentation of the 2024-25 budget.

The US toymaker said the doll, which is now available online and instore, has been created in a bid to make blind and low-vision children more represented within society.

The UDID card is recognized as a proof of disability by the government of India. This means that PwDs can use their UDID card to access various government schemes and benefits such as financial assistance, healthcare services, education, and employment.
