दृष्टिहीन मतदाताओं के लिए ब्रेल लिपि में मतपत्र बनाने काम शुरू हो गया है। पहले चरण में पांच राज्यों की 138 लोकसभा सीटों के लिए 14 हजार बैलेट पेपर तैयार किए जा रहे हैं। यह डमी बैलेट पेपर ईवीएम मशीन के साथ दृष्टिहीन मतदाताओं के लिए लगेंगे।  देहरादून स्थित राष्ट्रीय दृष्टिबाधित संस्थान(एनआईवीएच) में इन दिनों ब्रेल लिपि के बैलेट पेपर बनाने का काम चल रहा है। उत्तराखंड के साथ ही यूपी, हरियाणा, बिहार और हिमाचल प्रदेश के 139 लोकसभा क्षेत्रों के लिए इन मतपत्रों को तैयार किया जा रहा है।  एनआईवीएच निदेशक नचिकेता राउत का कहना है कि जिन लोकसभा क्षेत्रों से ब्रेल लिपि मतपत्रों की मांग आई थी, उन्हें तैयार

CHENNAI: A visually impaired assistant professor of a  government college in the city faces the possibility of  disciplinary action for not attending a training session on   election-related work. 

K Raghuraman from Nandanam Government Arts and Science College had reached the training centre in Villvakkam on March 24, but had to leave as there were no accessible features or proper assistance for him at the centre. Despite his requestion for exemption, he was asked to attend the training session for polling booth presiding officers. 

PANAJI: Forty visually impaired voters, including 24 blind  persons, from Sattari, Bicholim, Bardez, Tiswadi, Pernem and  Priol attended a training and awareness programme on the   election process.

As his board exams neared, Anshu Kumar Shakya, a class 12 student, felt unusually stressed and anxious. Pretty common among students, one would say. But his worries were entirely different. Shakya is bright, but he cannot see and needed a scribe to write his exams. His performance, he knew, depended not just on how hard he studied but also how well his answers were transcribed by his scribe.
