While efforts have been made to improve facilities at polling booths for persons with disabilities, there was quite a bit of disappointment reported by such persons with regard to their voting experience.
Voters with disability had to tackle issues such as steep or non-existent ramps, lack of railings along the ramps and unreachable EVMs and VVPATs.
It was a bittersweet moment for the family of a visually impaired girl from East Delhi who received a braille voter ID card Thursday. Kavita Kumar (19) was one of the 50 visually impaired people from the area, including a few first time voters, who collected the card from Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh at an event at Kashmere Gate.

Visually challenged artistes will perform ‘Teen Paishacha Tamasha’, a play written by Pu La Deshpande, Marathi literature icon, to mark his 100th birth anniversary today.
The inaugural show of the play will take place today, at Balgandharva Rangmandir at 12.30 pm. The play has 27 visually challenged artistes in its cast, directed by Swagat Thorat and produced by Vina Dhole and Rashmi Pandhare.
