The athletes, who are taking part in the ongoing National Games for Visually Impaired, are source of inspiration. One should learn from them as they present exemplary discipline on ground.

This was stated by the MLA, Simarjit Singh Bains, who was the chief guest on the second day of these games, being held at Guru Nanak Stadium here. He appreciated special athletes for their passion and commitment while competing in various track and field events.

A look into blind sports: visually impaired show stomach for fight

NEW DELHI: The whistle blows and two teenage girls, dressed in the white judo uniforms, lunge forward -- eager to knock the other out.

Eventually, one of them manages to pin down the other.

It seems like a standard bout, except that both girls cannot see each other.

This is one of many awe-inspiring sights at the recently concluded Usha Sports Championships for the Blind 2018, where over 400 participants, including 99 female from 18 states competed in Kabaddi, Judo and Powerlifting events.

Three-day national games for visually impaired begin on Jan 13

Ludhiana, January 11

The arrival of participants from Orissa and Tamil Nadu here today has set the ball rolling for the National Games for Visually Impaired, which are scheduled to be held from January 13 to 15, at Guru Nanak Stadium.

 

Around 800 participants, including officials from as many as 20 states, are expected to take part in different track and field events in the three-day sports extravaganza to be organised by the state unit of Punjab under the aegis of the National Federation for Blinds.

‘Submit details of govt offices that are not disabled-friendly’

High Court direction comes after plea states old buildings, hospitals inaccessible

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the government and civic bodies here to submit details of all government offices and public buildings which are not disabled friendly.

A Bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C. Hari Shankar gave the order after it was told that while new buildings are disabled friendly, most of the old buildings, including hospitals, are not.

Shambhoor government school students shine at national event

Yakshagana prasanga titled ‘Kishkinda Koutuka’ staged by them at Kala Utsav in Bhopal wins top prize

Yakshagana staged by government school children of Dakshina Kannada has bagged the first prize at a national-level competition organised by the Union government in Bhopal. A visually- impaired girl was among the 10 students who performed.

The prasanga (episode) titled “Kishkinda Koutuka” performed by Bondala Jagannatha Shetty Memorial Government High School, Shambhoor in Bantwal taluk, was adjudged the best in the three-day Kala Utsav held from January 3.

Samsung brings VR glasses for visually impaired and lots more for CES 2018

Samsung has got a lot to offer this New Year. To look back, it had launched its C-Lab (Creative Lab) five years ago in an attempt to pursue innovative tech products. Thus the immense hard work of 5 years has resulted in the three new projects, to be unveiled at the CES this year and is a part of the C-Lab program. The list includes S-Ray (Sound-Ray) that consists of three directional speakers, the second is GoBreath, a breathing exercise app, and the third project is based on smart glasses called Relumino.

Need to upgrade DPM School for the Hearing & Visually Impaired

Three visually impaired students from the Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing & Visually Impaired, Itanagar, passing the 2017 Class X board examinations is a landmark in the history of rehabilitation of differently-abled children in Arunachal Pradesh.
Toku Mary from Palin, and Switzer Taggu and Ree Koyu from Pasighat were the three who passed the board examinations and set an example.
This also leads to a strong need for upgrading the school to higher secondary level in the larger interest of blind children to continue their higher education in their home state.
