DEHRADUN/NEW DELHI: From computers to make education available in these subjects to the blind and visually impaired students in the format of .braille books so that they can mix traditional ways of learning with epublications and even audio props. Music course books for school students will also be made available in braille soon, reports Ambika Pandit .

Innovation and entrepreneurship have nothing to do with age. Saumya Chauhan, 17, is a testament to that. The Class 12 student of Amity Global School in Gurugram has developed an intelligent vision-based object detection device for the visually/partially impaired to help them get through their daily lives with some ease.

With 85% in SSC, Vadodara-based visually impaired girl Yesha Makwana now eyes IAS

VADODARA: She was the first and the only visually-impaired  student to appear for the SSC exams using a  laptop in the state. Now, Vadodara-based Yesha  Makwana achieved yet another feat as she ranked  first in the state among all the visually-impaired students  who took the board exams. Makwana, a student of   Web Memorial School, scored 85.2%.
The blind  students are given special laptops with voice assistant features.

Thoothukudi collector's name to be etched forever for his efforts to empower visually impaired people

THOOTHUKUDI: A group of people with visual impairment have decided to name their residential area after the outgoing district collector, Dr K Senthil Raj, as a mark of respect for his continuous efforts to empower them. In August 2022, Minister Geetha Jeevan and Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi had recently distributed free land pattas to 27 men and 25 women attached to the Ulagin Oli Visually Impaired Trust.

The story is set in a fairytale-like place where a monster lived in a cave and hated colours. So, one day she snatched away the colours from everything in the world.

Parliament library now accessible to visually challenged

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated special facilities that provide visually challenged people access to more than 1.7 million publications and resources in the library.

NEW DELHI: Visually challenged people will now have easier access to the vast repository of resources in the parliament library which is now equipped with necessary assistive technologies, officials said.

Visually impaired since his birth, Miracle Gill from Jammu has beaten all odds to secure 93.4% in CBSE’s Class-12 exams, result of which was declared on Friday.

Sightsavers India Launches STAR, An Android-Based App To Track The Progress Of Visually Impaired Children In Their Inclusive Education Program

New Delhi, India – Sightsavers India, a leading NGO that works towards eliminating avoidable blindness and promoting equality for people with disabilities, has developed an online app called “Student Tracking Assessment and Reporting (STAR)” to track the progress of visually impaired children in their inclusive education program. The tool has been designed to collect basic information, set baseline data of the children, capture progressive data of the Children with Visual Impairment (CVI), and generate reports based on monitoring of field-based activities.
