NEW DELHI: Over 10,000 students from government schools, DU, IP University and NCC are to assist the chief electoral officer of Delhi during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
For the first time in India, the researchers and scientists of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-D) Delhi, has developed a ‘DotBook’- the country’s first Braille Laptop for the blind students and the community. This laptop which is exclusively created for the differently abled will be afforadable and have refreshable Braille display.

Karna Vidya is conducting Government certificate course on job ability training joined with National Career Service Centre for the Differently abled and Kalasalingam Academic Research Centre. to enhance employ-ability skill sets. As of now Karna Vidya trained 200 students in employability skills. Among this 80 people got placed in private sector such as Amazon, TCS, CTS, Scope E-knowledge, Codemanthra, and bsage communication.
Workshop on Road Safety, Mobility and Useful Apps for the Blind
NAB Delhi is conducting a two day workshop on 9th & 10th March 2019 at its NAB R.K. Puram sector 5 Delhi premises.
This project on Road Safety & Mobility is supported by Goodyear.

The chief electoral office (CEO) in Jharkhand on Tuesday announced a series of measures to ensure hassle-free participation of voters with disabilities in the Lok Sabha elections.
State’s CEO, L Khiyangate said that visually impaired voters would be provided with Braille enabled voter slips and pick and drop facility would be given to the physically challenged persons in coming parliamentary elections. Khiyangate said that the initiatives were taken as part of Election Commission of India’s (ECI) strategy framework for ‘accessible election.’

The Chief Electoral Officer of the State today announced that a slew of measures will be introduced in the forthcoming general elections for free and fair polls. The ECI is going to introduce Citizen Vigilance (C-Vigil) App, through which any voter can inform ECI, if he or she finds any violation of model code of conduct in the elections in their booth.

CHENNAI: Five people with disabilities were honoured for their achievements and contributions to the disabled community, at the 17th edition of the CavinKare Ability Awards function on Saturday.
The prestigious Ability Mastery Award went to para-athletic champion Venkatachalam M from Gudiyatham for his trail-blazing show in the International Para Games in Thailand in 2018. Venkatachalam was left with a severe disability after a road accident and worked in a mobile recharge shop but went on to win gold and silver at the games.

Blind football coach Trilochan Behera and blind footballer Samar Nandi from Odisha would attend the coaches’ and players’ training session for new and upcoming blind football trainers to be held in Kochi from February 26 to 28.
The training session is being organised by the Indian Blind Football Federation (IBFF) in association with the England FA Blind Football Association.
