Shambhoor government school students shine at national event

Yakshagana prasanga titled ‘Kishkinda Koutuka’ staged by them at Kala Utsav in Bhopal wins top prize

Yakshagana staged by government school children of Dakshina Kannada has bagged the first prize at a national-level competition organised by the Union government in Bhopal. A visually- impaired girl was among the 10 students who performed.

The prasanga (episode) titled “Kishkinda Koutuka” performed by Bondala Jagannatha Shetty Memorial Government High School, Shambhoor in Bantwal taluk, was adjudged the best in the three-day Kala Utsav held from January 3.

Samsung has got a lot to offer this New Year. To look back, it had launched its C-Lab (Creative Lab) five years ago in an attempt to pursue innovative tech products. Thus the immense hard work of 5 years has resulted in the three new projects, to be unveiled at the CES this year and is a part of the C-Lab program. The list includes S-Ray (Sound-Ray) that consists of three directional speakers, the second is GoBreath, a breathing exercise app, and the third project is based on smart glasses called Relumino.

Need to upgrade DPM School for the Hearing & Visually Impaired

Three visually impaired students from the Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing & Visually Impaired, Itanagar, passing the 2017 Class X board examinations is a landmark in the history of rehabilitation of differently-abled children in Arunachal Pradesh.
Toku Mary from Palin, and Switzer Taggu and Ree Koyu from Pasighat were the three who passed the board examinations and set an example.
This also leads to a strong need for upgrading the school to higher secondary level in the larger interest of blind children to continue their higher education in their home state.

Apple has discontinued the iPod Shuffle, but there are still lots of them available from other sources. Many are advertised as being brand new and still sealed in their boxes. Your simplest and least disruptive option is to buy a more recent Shuffle, or two, either “as new” or little used. Given that your last Shuffle lasted around nine years, this should also be a reasonably cost-effective option.

Blind cricketers to wait till January 5 for government approval

BENGALURU: Association for Blind in India (CABI) president GK Mahantesh said the national team will wait till January 5 for clearance from government to travel to Pakistan for the fifth World Cup to be held from January 7-21.
"We will wait till January 5 for clearance from the government to travel to Pakistan for World Cup," he told reporters here.

New system develops analytic thought in blind children

For the purpose of developing analytic thought and reducing mistaken alterations in data received by children with sight disabilities, a group of students in Mexico City designed a multi-sensory system that includes stories, jigsaw puzzles and stuffed toys.

“Mati Mati Makes Visible the Invisible”, is a system that reduces the difficulties of learning by developing analytic thought in blind children, said the creators, students at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM).
