BENGALURU: Two years after the Parliament passed the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill-2016 and enacted it as a law, Karnataka is yet to implement the Act. Among the benefits to be extended to the differently-abled persons, in accordance with the Act, are issuing of smart cards, giving two-wheelers specially designed for those with locomotor disability, and talking laptops for the blind.
NEW DELHI: While the Delhi administration is trying to make all government buildings disabled-friendly over the next few years, the person behind the change in attitude, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities T D Dhariyal faces a daily battle to access his office. Situated in the busy and congested Mata Sundari Road atDaryaganj in Old Delhi, the office of the commissioner for persons with disabilities has an uneven, narrow entrance through a lane crowded with street vendors and vehicles, sometimes even trucks which block all access.
Noa Hottin’s life is far from ordinary. Hottin, at 9 years old, has already lived in three countries and speaks four languages – he’s also been blind since birth and spent a period of time selectively mute.
As such, he’s faced challenges that many of his fourth grade peers have never even had to think about. Despite his unusual set of circumstances, he has continued to tackle challenges and to thrive while doing so.
Goa: The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is all set to roll out the red carpet to host the film fraternity in Goa. While cine-goers delight in watching films, the festival also ensures inclusivity and accessibility is maintained so as to spread the joy of cinema through all sections of the society.
Since 2016, the programming package has included a special curated section for the differently-abled. This year the festival brings two Hindi favourites – Sholay and Hichki, for the benefit of the visually impaired children.

An assistant professor of Punjabi University, Dr Kiran Kumari, will get the Role of Model award from President Ram Nath Kovind on the International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3 in Delhi.
At present, she is associated with the Department of Social Sciences. Despite being blind, she has been performing her duties with full of dedication. One of her students has already completed PhD under her guidance.
Five other students are enrolled under for PhD while 7 are pursuing MPhil.
