“The Aadhaar enrolment process is not equipped at all for persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities and those with high support needs,” said Smitha Sadasivan, member, Disability Rights Alliance.

Uttar Pradesh Congress staged a dharna over atrocities on blind students of Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University and the cane charge after students tried to raise their demands.

Party MLC Deepak Singh, who sat on the dharna to protest administrative excesses on blind students in Lucknow on Wednesday, alleged that the Yogi government was violating all norms to harass students and even blind students were not being spared.

While teaching the visually impaired children for the last 17 years at the Vocational Rehabilitation and Training Centre (VRTC), Hambran Road, Maya (50) makes sure her lessons are interesting and replete with anecdotes and stories.

Despite being devoid of sense of sight, she goes out of her way to inspire the children she teaches.
