Glaucoma is a common eye ailment that can lead to severe loss of vision and blindness. Because of its potential to take away sight and leading to darkness in afflicted person's life, it is also referred to as ‘kala motia’ in local population. 
Just as bats bounce sound waves off objects to find their way in the dark, some blind humans spontaneously make clicking sounds with their mouths to navigate the world, scientists said on Wednesday.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board exams for Class 10 and 12 are slated to begin on March 5. Delhi has the highest number of registered students, also maximum in the differently abled category, attempting the exams this year. This, despite the number of students registered for the board exams dropping from 2017.

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor has announced 50% discount in PTDC hotels and motels to blind people. This initiative will encourage visually impaired people to visit tourist areas with their family. These specially enabled people can also avail this facility in groups. PTDC has 35 motels and four restaurants at various locations famous for tourist attractions in the country. These resorts are equipped with high-quality accommodation and food facilities.
Jammu: The Mountaineering Association of J&K is going to organise the first-ever National Sport Climbing Championship for visually impaired climbers on March 27 and 28 at Sprawling Buds School, Bantalab. The association on Tuesday said the participation of visually challenged climbers was likely to touch the 300-mark as the response was very positive. It has decided to distribute prizes to the first eight positions instead of the usual first three positions in both the categories of boys and girls.

The independence, confidence and safety of the blind and visually impaired adults and children across Fiji will now be enhanced.
This is after 200 canes were donated by Australia’s High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes to assist the blind and visually impaired.
“It is great to hear that the Walk with Confidence campaign will not only supply those in need with important equipment,” Mr Feakes said.
“It will also connect them with disability services and advocacy.”

Satish would not have been able to cover the 50-km route of a car rally through the streets of Patiala and its outskirts on Sunday if Puneet, a visually-impaired man, had not shown him the way. Though Satish was behind the wheel, the route map of the rally was in Braille (a form of written language for the blind).
