ASB - T20 State level Tournament for the Blind is Kick started

Ramanagara: After several days of anticipation ASB Cup State level Cricket tournament for the Blind was kick started here at District stadium Ramanagara.

The tournament, modeled on the regular T-20 format, is sponsored by the ASB, builders and developers (our title-principal sponsor) and the tournament will have 15 matches including semifinals and Finals. The 3 day tournament will have 12 teams from across the state. These teams are divided in 4 groups and will play against each other and fight for a berth in the two semi-finals and final.

Indo-Pak blind series next year

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) Wednesday said Pakistan-India series will be staged here next year to improve the cricketing-ties between both the countries. Talking to APP, World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) and PBCC Chairman Syed Sultan Shah the series will be played in February next year. “PBCC has finalized three venues including Islamabad, Lahore and Faisalabad for the series. “The series will comprise Three ODI and Three Twenty-20 matches,” he said.

England's secret weapon for Ashes success was 'visually impaired' Goalball sport

England's cricketers have revealed that they had used Goalball, which is a sport devised for the visually impaired, during practice sessions as one of the secret weapons in their successful battle against Australia in the Ashes.

According to the Mirror, English cricketers have used Goalball equipment like black-out goggles, which extinguish every scrap of light, and have laid themselves down in front a ball hurled at 60 mph while wearing those goggles, during training and warm-ups to promote trust and togetherness.

Indian blind football team set for international tournament

New Delhi: There's hardly been any publicity and fanfare, but blind football has taken a massive step forward in India. The Indian Blind Sports Association (IBSA), the national sports body for the blind, is sending a squad to represent India at the Thailand Open Football 5-A-Side Tournament 2013 in Bangkok - the first time an Indian team will participate in an international football event.

Visually impaired cricket at Ashes

VISUALLY impaired cricketers performed their version of the game during a break in the Ashes test at Chester-le-Street today. 

Durham Vision Impaired Cricket Club played during a break in proceedings between England and Australia, just before a heavy downpour forced them to seek shelter from the elements.

The squad consists of 13 players, male and female, of varying sight levels with some fully blind, who use a ball with a ball bearing in so players can hear it coming.

For them, failure is the first step towards success. The more they falter, the stronger their willpower grows, pushing them to rise higher in life. Hoping against hope, they walk through a tunnel’s darkness only to find light at the end of it.

It is this noble thought which has inspired National Institute of Professionals (NIP), an educational centre for the blind and disabled students, to host the second edition of All Bengal Chess Competition for the Blind early on Friday morning.
