Visually-impaired Dancers Count Steps, Light Up Arts Fest

BENGALURU: A visually-impaired dance troupe from Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind, led by Dharmaraju, performed at the International Performing Art Festival recently.

Dharmaraju has been training students at the academy from 2009, since he completed his studies, with the touch-and-feel method and a lot of patience.

On Saturday, over 500 people with disability once again proved that they are no different from able-bodied sportsmen at the 15th State-level Annual Sports for Disabled organised by Tamil Nadu Differently Abled Federation Charitable Trust (TNDAFC) and Sri Bhagyalakshmi Travel Services.

Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, a Ballari-based non-profit organisation, will organise a job fair for physically challenged people at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, on Saturday. Addressing a media conference here on Monday, Ashok Kumar S., regional manager of the trust, said that around 30 employers, including a couple of major companies, were expected to participate in the event.
