Jharkhand: A blind school teacher from India’s Jharkhand state surprised everyone by writing the Holy Qur'an in Braille language, Dunya News reported citing BBC Hindi news service.

While pursuing her B.A, Nafees Tareen desired to read Holy Qur’an but none of the masters showed interest to educate her as she was blind.

Diff-abled Protest to Make Their Voices Heard

CHENNAI: Humdreds of members belonging to Persons With Disabilities staged a daylong protest in the premises of Ezhilagam, the building that hosts offices of several top government officials. They braved odds in continuing their protest throughout the day to have their demands heard, most importantly the demand to reduce the minimum degree of disability to 40 per cent to avail of concessions.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With barely two months left for the academic year to close, the visually challenged school students in the state are yet to get most books, especially the the second term (part 2) of classes I to VIII.Only a few schools got part 2 books of classes  II, III, VI and VIII, the syllabus of which changed this year.

The PwDs can avail the different facilities such as self employment loan, education loan, skill training, link to scholarships and information about jobs in a single window platform through this National Job Portal.

REC has sanctioned CSR assistance of Rs45.15 lakh to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi for ‘Distribution of 50 Laptops with customised software for visually impaired students pursuing higher education’ to provide barrier free environment for higher education and enable them to pursue professional or technical education and get employed/ self-employed to find a dignified place for themselves in the society.
