‘Agreement reached with visually-impaired protesters’

Pune Camp: The Hospital Cornea Retrieval Programme (HCRP), launched at Sassoon Hospital in November last year, has raised the hopes of visually-impaired people. Thanks to HCRP, the availability of good quality corneal tissues in the city has now become easier.
Members of the unemployed wing of the Bharat Netarheen Sewak Samaj staged a protest in front of the office of the DPI, Elementary, in Phase VIII here today.
The protesters also raised slogans in support of their demands.
The Assistive Technology Lab (ATL) at B. V. Raju Institute of Technology (BVRIT), Narsapur, Medak dist, Telangana which is part of the Sri Vishnu Educational Society is a vision of Mr. K. V. Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani on Tuesday made an unscheduled visit to Hindu College to take stock of hostel facilities for disabled students, and to “ensure that college extends fee-waiver to students with special needs”’.
Going an extra mile to help a visually-impaired person get a transfer from Chennai to his native Madurai, the Madras High Court has directed the State government to approve a post for him, which has been recommended by the Madurai Corporation.
