New Delhi, August 27 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to examine a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking directions for the implementation of the Braille Integration System across all domains of public and private sectors to assist visually impaired people.
Rakshitha Raju, a visually impaired athlete from Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka, has been selected for the Paralympics 2024 in Paris, starting from August 28, 2024. She will be competing in the Women's 1500m Running T-11 Category, making history as the first Indian female athlete to compete in this category in the Paralympic Games. This milestone is a testament to Rakshitha's unparalleled resilience and commitment to excellence.
JEPC project promotes digital learning for visually impaired students in state
Ranchi: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has launched Project Jyoti to promote digital inclusion for visually impaired students. The initiative aims to harness the power of mobile technology to support students in Classes VIII and above across five districts: Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Gumla, Saraikela, and Khunti.
The project has been formalized through a recently signed MoU between JEPC and Mjauction, a flagship CSR initiative by Tata Steel and SAIL, and Vimal Imparod.

He was also the first visually impaired international student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, where he pursued a management course.
Thirty-three-year-old Kapil and thirty-six-year-old Neetu Goyal were born to a middle income family in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Both of them are visually impaired since birth. When their parents consulted eye doctors, the kids were prescribed spectacles which could aid only a little in their vision.

This contactless National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) debit card is available on RuPay network, PNB said in a statement.
The introduction of the new braille debit card reflects the bank’s commitment to inclusivity and financial accessibility, it said.
