4% promotion quota for staff with benchmark disabilities

  NEW DELHI: The department of personnel and training (DoPT)  on Tuesday notified the policy on reservation in promotion  to persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBDs) in central  government posts, fixing 4% of total vacancies in the cadre  strength within Group C, from Group C to Group B, within  Group B and from Group B to lowest rung of Group A, for  PwBDs.

The Kerala State Information Commission has directed the Director of Health Services to take immediate steps to set up an outpatient counter at the Ernakulam General Hospital specially for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

HYDERABAD: Representatives from several organisations working among the visually handicapped said the government was not involving them while making decisions regarding the visually impaired. They demanded that the blind community at large be consulted before making any decisions for their welfare.
They were speaking at a meeting of the Hyderabad unit of the All India Confederation of the Blind (AICB) with the representatives of all organisations working for the blind in the city on Saturday.

Ranga Rao Memorial School for Differently Abled (RMSD) has started the admission procedure for the current year. The school, run by Vasu Agarbatti Ranga Rao Memorial Trust and supported by NR Foundation, has invited applications from visually impaired girl students for Class 1 to 10 from across Karnataka for admission in the 2022-23 academic session.

Bengaluru: Narayana Nethralaya in collaboration with Acer India on Wednesday launched the PC and tablet-based software, "VisioNova" designed for children suffering from Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI). This initiative by Narayana Nethralaya and Acer India aims at breaking down barriers and providing the patients with better access to treatment. Acer VisioNova, a path-breaking innovation was conceptualized as a mobile alternative to on-site therapy for CVI children that will offer them the standard care.

Blinded by fate, 17-year-old champion athlete from Usgao sets sights on international stage

  PANAJI: Sakshi Kale didn’t look out of place at the GMC  Athletic Stadium in Bambolim. Having travelled 40km from  Usgao alone, walking through a dirt road to catch a bus and   then changing it twice to reach the stadium, the 17-year-old  was ready to test herself against the rest of the athletes  for the 100m sprint at the SAG/GAA Mini State Athletic  Championship.
There was nothing unusual for the naked eye.  Only that Sakshi was visually impaired and 100m sprint  wasn’t her first choice.

Visually impaired Lawyer Suraj Singh has been appointed as the Government Advocate in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The appointment came after the lawyer sat on a protest outside the high court demanding sound implementation of disability laws in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by the administration.
