Sonu lives with his sister Lakshmi and parents in a rustic village in Kutch, Gujarat bordering Pakistan. One day when his father falls sick, Sonu and Lakshmi volunteer to graze the camels. During a food break, the camels drift away. Sonu goes in search only to find himself lost in the wilderness with no camel in sight.

In the Equal Opportunities Cell at Delhi University’s North Campus on Friday, many differently-abled students, ranging from the visually impaired to those with locomotor disabilities and dyslexia, were seated in an air-conditioned room and were calmly being helped with their application forms by special volunteers sensitive to their needs.

This was in drastic contrast to the scenes in centres such as Daulat Ram College, which on day one and two, forced these students to brave the heat and get in line with other categories.

Disabled-friendly Odisha govt websites by August 15

 The state government is planning to make government web portals disabled-friendly with screen readers, resizing of texts and colour contrast scheme by August 15.

Screen reader is a software application that interprets the display on a computer and presents it to an user in a text-to-speech, sound icon or Braille form, making the contents accessible to the blind.

Railways to launch 20-coach Braille train shortly

 will launch a new train with all its coaches equipped with Braille-embedded signages on berths, toilets, wash basins and doors as part of the 100-day agenda being finalised by the national transporter. 

Flagging off train to Katra, long awaited for clearance from Railway Commissioner for Safety, too is on the agenda. 

Launching of the 20-coach train with Braille signages, a first of its kind, for facilitating visually-impaired passengers, will be part of the Railway's 100-day agenda to be submitted to PMO shortly, a senior Railway Ministry official said today.
