The Indian blind women's cricket team won the inaugural Women's T20 World Cup for the Blind on Sunday. Led by team captain Deepika TC, India defeated Nepal by seven wickets in the tournament final in Colombo. With this victory Indian team garnered praises from across the country, from Amit Shah to Jyotiraditya Scindia.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced important new rules for blind and low-vision candidates taking the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) XX. These rules are put in place to help students with visual impairments access the legal profession more easily. The AIBE XX exam is planned for December 2025 . Under these new guidelines, eligible candidates will receive several support measures, including extra time during the exam, the option to use a helper (scribe), and special computer software. Also, some candidates might not need to take the Hindi language paper.

In 1934, the German artist Max Ernst painted an abstract work titled The Blind Swimmer (Effect of a Touch). The painting invites viewers to imagine the sensations and perceptions of someone navigating a world without sight. While this idea may have seemed radical at the time, nature has long equipped creatures like bats, dolphins, and whales with a remarkable ability to “see” through sound—echolocation. By listening to echoes, they sense distance, movement, and shape. Even semi-blind animals such as beavers navigate water with confidence.

KSRTC’s Dhwani Spandana project, a first-of-its-kind initiative for visually impaired passengers received the honour for its work in creating an inclusive and accessible public transport system.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has been honoured with the National Award of Excellence in Urban Transport – 2025 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The award recognises Karnataka as the State that implemented the best urban transport projects during the previous year, according to a release by the KSRTC.
