Students ‘Donate’ Voice for the Cause of the Blind

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : A few students on Kerala University’s Kariavattom campus have come forward to give their voice to a noble cause by recording audio textbooks for blind students as part of an initiative dubbed “voice donation”. Aishwarya Ashok, an MSW student on the campus, volunteered to read out a chapter for an audio book on Information Technology. At Government Blind School in Jagathy here, 116 more Kerala University students have registered for a voice donation programme.

The students of Blind Institute, Sector 26 here on Monday presented designer candles to Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj Patil at Punjab Raj Bhavan for the occasion of Diwali. Interacting with children, Patil emphasised the need for empowering the blind students by imparting them education and vocational training to enable them to live a life with pride and dignity.

Mumbai: Quikr, India’s number one online classifieds company and Blind Relief Association, Delhi (BRAD), a premier NGO serving in the field of education and training of the blind, today announced a long term collaboration to support the visually impaired people by offering them training opportunities with Quikr. According to the agreement signed on the World Sight Day, the selected trainee-agents will contribute to the company’s day to day operations.
