Anguished over the lapse of funds allocated for the disabled people, a Parliamentary panel has asked the Department of Disability Affairs to make all efforts for full utilisation of its budget in this current fiscal.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, in its report, also termed "unacceptable" the reasons given by the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry for under-utilisation of funds.

The sighting of scores of disabled passengers left waiting for assistance after disembarking Air India flights has become part of the daily routine at major airports served by India's flag carrier. The reason why vulnerable passengers are left waiting without assistance for up to one hour is that the airline does not send assistance requests to airports.
 

The Delhi University online registration process is likely to be extended to SC/ ST and persons with disability (PWD) in the 2013-14 academic session. Even though the physical common admission form will be available for pre-admission registration to various undergraduate courses, the focus seems to be on the online registration this year. According to university officials, the application process - both offline and online is expected to be simpler and student-friendly.
