Lack of infrastructure force children with disabilities, especially girls, to drop out from schools

Lesser number of girls with disabilities are enrolled in schools than boys and their enrolment has remained consistently around 40 per cent, a latest study has shown. The enrolment of girl students with disabilities was 43.57 per cent in 2009-10, 43.07 per cent in 2010-11, 41.51 per cent in 2011-12, and 40.21 per cent in 2012-13.

Kids with disabilities shouldn't be asked certificates for admission, exam: NCERT

New Delhi: No child with disability should be asked to produce certificates either for admission, examination, getting support for facilities or scholarships as far as possible, NCERT has suggested.

It has also said that there should be exemption from the fee component in schools for children with disabilities whether studying in government or government-aided schools.

Computer Training programme announcement for persons with blindness or low vision coupled with netbook subsidy scheme

Saksham brings two batches of five seats each this summer of a unique computer training programme with kind support from HCL

Batch 1: In collaboration with National Association for the Blind, Delhi State Branch will be conducted at computer training unit, National Association for the Blind, , Sector 5, R.K. Puram, New Delhi.  In addition

New software to issue disability certificate

PUNE: Persons with disabilities can now get computer-based disability certificates at the Sassoon General Hospital which has got the software that helps eliminate fake ones.
The 'Software for Assessment of Disability, Maharashtra' (SADM) issues a unique identification number to do away with the problem of bogus disability certificates. It became operational recently in 42 civil and government medical college hospitals across the state.
