Leadership Training by LCDSARO

Leadership training for young voices supported by Leonard Cheshire Disability South Asia Regional Office.

The leadership training has been organized for the young people with disability who are in the age group of 16 to 25 years for all cross disability who are reciding in Bengaluru

Date: 13-14 August 2011 (Saturday and Sunday).

Career Workshop On Voice Vision's 11th Anniversary

Voice Vision, started in April 2000 as a computer training institute for the blind and visually impaired with the help of assistive technology in the form or JAWS screen reading software). We have come a long way over the last 11 years. An enjoyable journey through the passage of time which has seen the inclusion of various initiatives  such as the reader-writer support, facilitating easy access of NGO information on one platform, incepting a matrimonial portal to name a few.

The Beyond Sight Foundation (Blind With Camera) in collaboration with Goa - Centre for Alternative Photography (www.goa-cap.com) has organized residency photography workshop for the visually impaired from 13th to 15th August 2011 in Goa. The workshops will be from 9am to 7pm, all 3 days.

Fine Arts Talent Competition for the Visually Challenged

The Akhtar Trust for the Blind organizing Fine Art Talent Competition Programme for all visually challenged students and others at Masjid Bandar, Mumbai, on 1st April, 2011. The interested candidates can participate in the following competitions:

1. Vocal Music
2. Self-compose Poem
3. Elocution

Job fair for differently abled persons

The Tamil Nadu Differently Abled Welfare Association will organise a job fair for persons with disability at Island Grounds in Chennai on March 19.

N. Ravi, president of the association, informed that reputed employers from cities all over the country will participate.

The event is open for physically, visually and hearing challenged candidates.

Treasure hunt with Blind Navigators
A treasure hunt where a sighted driver is ‘shown’ the way to the treasure by a blind navigator using a clue sheet written in Braille

Event objectives include:
a) Adventure and fun for the blind and their sighted team mates
b) Appreciation of the challenges faced by the blind
c) Fund raising for the education of the blind

Client Service Department is thrilled with the results of the free Low Vision Assessment and Low vision aid programme taken up by the department and we have continued our efforts to benefit more and more blind persons with Low/Partial vision.


School level competitions for Visually Impaired students

Indian Association of the Blind, Delhi is going to organize the School level competitions for the Visually challenged students on 14-15 November at Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Rani Jhansi Road, Delhi.

There would be 4 type of events in 2 days programs. These competitions as are as follows:

Saturday, 14 November 2009.

1. Hindi Braille reading, up to Class-5.
2. Poetry Recital, up to Class-5.
3. Braille writing, Class 6-8.
4. Hindi Ashu Nibandh Lekhan Pratiyogita, Class 6-8. (The topic will be given on the spot)

eLiving 2011

We are very glad to inform you that Resource Centre for Differently Abled( RCDA) of Loyola College, Chennai successfully completed its five years of excellent  service through ICTs since Jan 2006.  We have planned to organize ‘eLiving 2011’ – a technical awareness program and intercollegiate technical competition for the visually impaired college going students on Feb 12th and 13th 2011.

We Care Abilities Mela

Brotherhood, Business & Community Foundation (BCF), UN Information Centre, and Indian Red Cross Society, Faridabad are jointly organizing We Care Abilities Mela from 11 to 12 November 2009 at Faridabad Chambers of Commerce, Sector 11-B, Faridabad from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The local organizations AADI, Akriti, ERCSC, Tender Heart etc. are supporting in organizing the mela.
