Remember the classic children’s book where a bunny says good night to everything around it? Now, thanks to the efforts of a University of ColoradoBoulder team, Margaret Wise Brown’s Goodnight Moon is now available in 3D.   

Visually impaired kids can learn astronomy

After facing the ire of the Delhi High Court, the Directorate of Education (DoE) on Monday issued a notice to all unaided private schools of Delhi to recruit special educators and make their schools premises barrier-free so as to provide movement and access to the children with disabilities. The notice has been issued by the directorate following a mandate by the High Court asking for a compliance report at the earliest.

-On December 17, 2012, exactly a day after the Delhi gangrape case that shook the country, a three-year-old girl was taken to the toilet of  her play school in Delhi and raped by the owner-principal’s husband. She is not the only child violated in a space considered to be the safest space for children after their homes — the school. This ugly reality has come to light once again with a six-year-old being sexually abused in a school in Bangalore. Every report specified that it took place at an “elite school”, as if such incidents only take place among the poor and this was new.

Cry for suspension of Utkal faculty

Visually challenged students today sat on a protest before the disability commissioner’s office here demanding immediate suspension of the Utkal university faculty Sujit Acharya.

Acharya had allegedly insulted a visually impaired student, who was compelled him to attempt suicide.

The students squatted in front of the commissioner’s office on the premises of Capital Hospital, where the victim Chakradhar Dash is admitted since Friday.

Three-year-old kid brutally beaten by tutor

A private tutor has been caught on tape brutally beating a three-year-old kid in Kolkata.
The police is on the lookout for the middle-aged woman home tutor who is accused of thrashing the kid.
The incident came to light this morning after a CCTV footage showed the tutor mercilessly beating the kid in a Lake Town home.
"We have received a complaint and are on a lookout for her," officer in charge of Lake Town police station Ashok Sen said.
According to the complaint lodged by the kid's family, the tutor was given appointment just a few daysback.
