THE PROGRESSIVE SOCIETY FOR THE SIGHTLESS is going to organise an all-India seminar on HOW THE SIGHTLESS SHAPE THE CIVIL SOCIETY on November 5 and 6, 2009 in Satyawati College, Phase 3, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi - 110052. It will be an interactive seminar between the service providers and the consumers. The uniqueness of the seminar lies in the fact that majority of the paper presenters are new faces and after every session, half an hour will be given to interact with the team of experts. The objective of this initiative is to give more and more opportunities to our blind players to get FIDE rating. You have been invited to take part in this first ever FIDE rating National Open Chess Tournament for the blind, which will be held at Panipat, Haryana from 21 to 25 June 2010.

An opportunity to share your thoughts and creativity! ABILITY FOUNDATION invites you to participate in "60 Seconds to Fame!" All-India One-minute Film Competition on disability focussing on the need for equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The three best entries will receive cash prize of Rs. One Lakh, Rs. Seventy Five Thousand and Rs. Fifty Thousand respectively. A national jury comprising eminent celebrity filmmakers/actors from across the country, as well as distinguished persons from the disability sector, will select the prize winning entries.

ILS Law College is hosting a conference on Convention on Rights of Persons with Disability on 19 September 2009 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mitra Jyothi is organising a two-day course in social etiquette during the second week of September in Bangalore. Below are further details:

Venue: Mitra Jyothi campus, HSR layout.
Tentative dates: 12 and 13 September (Saturday and Sunday).
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Topics to be covered include:
1. Table manners, including handling  cutlery and setting a table.
2. Social skils.
3. Using body language and gestures.
4. Kitchen basics, including grocery identification, lighting a gas burner and other basic tasks.

With the help of BPA Ahmedabad and Physiotherapy College for the Blind, Bookshare-India is conducting a one day seminar and workshop on Bookshare in Ahmedabad. The aim of this workshop is listed below:

We are organising a workshop on 12 May 2010 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at NAB Centre for Blind Women, New Delhi, for their new batch of girls. The workshop will be about communication skills, goal setting, and motivation.
