2nd Access India convention

Members of the Access India met for the first time during December, 2005. Members from different parts of the country took part with lots of enthusiasm and there were many presentations and discussions. Further to the convention, over the two years, there is a huge traffic with discussions on many issues pertaining to various issues for visually impaired from education to employment, technologies, accessibility and many more and the members database is increased immensly. Hence, it is decided to organize 2nd Convention of Access India.

EmployAbility 2008

Ability Foundation has been organizing the EmployAbility job , opportunities fair for persons with disabilities in Chennai for the last , three years with an objective of bringing together qualified disabled , candidates and open minded employers.This time it will be held at New Delhi in February. The fair is open to all persons with disabilities who are at least graduates. Prior registration is essential, and the last date for registration is December 15, 2007., ,

Designing Accessible Websites – Section 508

Over the years accessibility has emerged as a vital concept for developing technology. The reason being advancement in technology, the number of users is increasing by the minute. These users also include people with disabilities, who are potential market. Accessibility has been able to make a mark due to the various laws and standards that have been enforced such as ADA, Section 508, and W.C.A.G.

4th National Leadership Training Course for Disabled Activists

4th National Leadership Training Course for Disability Activists is a 5-day intensive exercise intended for disabled activists involved in advocating for the rights of the disabled and working towards an inclusive society. Objective The training aims to equip the participants with appropriate attitude, knowledge and skills to emerge as leaders to facilitate a disability movement in their respective communities and across the country. The participants will be short-listed based on their personal and work profile.

Free online advance computer course

Program teaches valuable networking and IT skills to students and workers worldwide who are interested in expanding their IT knowledge or starting a career in the technology, industry. The worlds first free, accessible, online learning programme teaching people the basics of computer maintenance and networking. The course runs for two days per week over a one year period.

Ches competition

The Delhi state level open chess tournament for visually challenged partakers is going to be organised by Indian Association of the Blind. The event would start at 9 a.m. on 11th August 2007 and end on 12th August 2007. This is an open competition and everybody is encouraged to participate in the event. All the participants are advised to bring their own chess board to play. Lunch and tea will be provided to all the participants. We would not be able to provide accomodation facility for participating in the tournament.

Seminar for blind people in preparation for tsunami

Thailand Association of the Blind TAB holds a seminar for blind people to prepare them in case they face another round of the tsunami.

, , The seminar is aimed at adjusting plans and updating tsunami news for blind people. TAB will inform its member the working process of tsunami warning system and evacuation routes so they can survive if the disaster takes place. All plans for blind people to deal with the tsunami disaster have already been detailed in the documents of United Nations World Summit on the Information Society WSIS.
