In a bid to eliminate blindness from India, the Union health ministry conducted a National Blindness Survey (2015-2018) in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

But what came out in the survey is striking and alarming as nearly "62 to 65 per cent of those surveyed randomly were found to be having cataract".

Ford car window helps blind passengers 'feel' the view

Ford is developing a new smart car window to let blind passengers experience the passing landscape.

A prototype, called Feel the View, uses high-contrast photos to reproduce scenery using LED lights.

Passengers can touch the display to feel different shades of grey vibrate at different intensities.

The Royal National Institute of Blind People said the charity "wholeheartedly supports" the company's effort.

With great enthusiasm, Big Bazaar has planned a PWD listening session in 105 stores within 17 cities. The intention is to take feedback from Persons with Speech/Hearing Disability and Persons with Visual Disabilities on their shopping habits and providing them an enhanced customer experience. We are not inviting Persons with physical disabilities because infrastructure changes are currently underway and once it's fully ready, we too will start inviting them.
