High Court sets up panel to aid visually challenged

The Delhi High Court has formed a high-power committee under the chairmanship of an IIT Delhi professor to look into the issues concerning accessibility of financial services to visually challenged persons.

A Bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad granted three months to the committee to submit its status report.

National Scholarship for Students with Disabilities 2022-23 is an initiative for physically disabled students from Class 1st to postgraduate level. The scholarship is being offered by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India. The key objective of the scholarship is to support students with disabilities in their studies and prepare them to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in society.

Hannah’s journey from a blind girl to the topper of the CBSE came with a lot of challenges. But what remained constant in her life was the support of her parents who believed in her abilities and encouraged her to take life heads on.

Thirty-four-year-old Deepak Arora belongs to a middle-class family in Faridabad, Haryana. He had a comfortable life growing up, studied in a mainstream school and later secured an MBA in Finance.
All was going well, until he started losing vision two years ago. Deepak went to a lot of eye doctors after which he was diagnosed with a degenerating eye condition, Retinitis Pigmentosa. He began to face issues performing his job as an Assistant Manager in a BPO.

Hannah Alice Simon, a girl from Kochi district of Kerala has secured first rank in class 12th Board examinations in the disabled category. She is a motivational speaker, a singer, and a YouTuber. Despite her underlying condition of ‘Microphthalmia’, Hannah scored 496 out of 500 in CBSE class 12 Exam. While talking to ANI, Hannah Alice Simon said, “My parents made this choice for me when you study in a special school for 12 years you are cut off from the rest of the world.

BEd and DElEd students will be compulsorily given information about initial knowledge of Braille and Sign Language.

In this way, at least 10 thousand teachers will be trained in elementary knowledge in the entire state. In the programme organized at ICF Ashram Bhopal, Director of State Education Center Dhanraju S said that teachers from all the districts of the state and mobile resource consultants were addressing the training session of Braille script and sign language.
