Deprived of state pension schemes and other medical facilities due to the unavailability of identity cards, the inmates of Pingla Ghar on Monday received their Aadhaar cards. The members of state advisory body for the disabled people organised a camp to make Aadhaar cards of the physically disabled and elderly people.
ITANAGAR, 11 Jan: Chief Minister Pema Khandu stressed on the need for empowering the people with disabilities to build an inclusive society.
He said this during a meeting with the Secretary for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) Department under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSoJE), Shakuntala D Gamlin on Monday.
He assured his full support for establishment of a national institute, an ancillary unit and a composite regional centre (CRC) for the people with disabilities in Arunachal.

A National Sample Survey Exercise pointed out that about 5% of the total population in India sleeps without two square meals a day. The Public Distribution System (PDS) later revamped to the Targeted Public Distribution System (TDPS) aimed at providing food and grains to the needy. BHUBANESWAR: In a bid to promote social harmony, Odisha Government has decided to give cash award of Rs 2.5 lakh to a normal person for marrying a Person with Disability (PwD). The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) department has floated a new scheme that promises an incentive of Rs 2.5 lakh to be provided for the wedding between a normal person irrespective of category of disability and a PwD so as to mainstream the latter in the society.
