An Uttar Pradesh civil service officer who partially lost his sight and hearing after sustaining seven bullet injuries in an attack after he exposed an alleged Rs 100-crore scholarship scam has finally cracked the UPSC exam.

In the Union Public Service Commission examination 2021, Rinko Rahee, who cannot see well from one eye, has lost hearing in one ear and has a broken jaw, secured the 683rd rank.

NEW DELHI: When 29-year-old Ayushi’s brother broke the news   to her on Monday that she had cleared the UPSC exam, it took  her a minute to register it.
“Honestly, I was expecting   my name in the list, but it was still a huge surprise to be   in the top 50. This was my fifth attempt. In the previous   attempts, I couldn’t even clear the mains. One gets  demotivated as it’s a long journey. But people looked up to   me with hope, and it helped me carry on,” Ayushi told  TOI, a day after achieving 48th  rank in the Civil Services Exam.

National-level IT Skills Competition

The “NAB IT Challenge” is a national-level IT skills competition organised by the “National Association for the Blind, Delhi” for the visually impaired. The purpose of this competition is to promote ICT Training for the visually impaired and to recognise you ths with advanced skills in ICT.

UPSC civil services 2021 rank holders are a mixed batch of bright minds from across the country.  Among 685 candidates who passed India’s most prestigious exam with flying colours are Delhi’s Samyak Jain, (UPSC AIR 7) and Ayushi (UPSC AIR 48), both of them are visually impaired.

Rights denied

Thirty-one-year-old Munna Nayak is a resident of Cuttack district in Odisha. He lost his eye sight at an early age but was able to pursue his education in a special school for the blind. Due to financial constraints, Munna had to give up studies after Class X and start a small business to sustain the family. He sold small items like mobile cases, key chains et cetera but his source of livelihood was adversely affected by the pandemic.
