Delhi University online registration to include SC/STs
The Delhi University online registration process is likely to be extended to SC/ ST and persons with disability (PWD) in the 2013-14 academic session. Even though the physical common admission form will be available for pre-admission registration to various undergraduate courses, the focus seems to be on the online registration this year. According to university officials, the application process - both offline and online is expected to be simpler and student-friendly.

Lack of infrastructure force children with disabilities, especially girls, to drop out from schools
Lesser number of girls with disabilities are enrolled in schools than boys and their enrolment has remained consistently around 40 per cent, a latest study has shown. The enrolment of girl students with disabilities was 43.57 per cent in 2009-10, 43.07 per cent in 2010-11, 41.51 per cent in 2011-12, and 40.21 per cent in 2012-13.
Kids with disabilities shouldn't be asked certificates for admission, exam: NCERT
New Delhi: No child with disability should be asked to produce certificates either for admission, examination, getting support for facilities or scholarships as far as possible, NCERT has suggested.
It has also said that there should be exemption from the fee component in schools for children with disabilities whether studying in government or government-aided schools.
Modern gadgets to improve teaching by visually challenged
MADURAI: To keep abreast of latest technologies that enhance teaching, the visually challenged teachers under the banner of Blind Teachers Association (BTA), Madurai Branch, arranged a special technical session for their members. More than 300 visually challenged teachers are members of the branch that has jurisdiction from Karur to Kanyakumari districts and 90 of them from Madurai and nearby districts participated in the workshop held on Saturday.
BPO company amazed at transcription skills of blind men

What began as a goodwill gesture has left the IT-enabled services BPO company Transtek, stunned at the skills of the young men of Ramkrishna Mission Blind Boys' Academy, Narendrapur. A few months ago, Transtek, which does medical transcription work for doctors in the US, approached the Narendrapur academy to train some of its students.
Text books for visually impaired students in Serbia
Representatives of the, Association of Blind and Visually Impaired People, of Serbia – Beli Stap (White Cane), together with several other disability associations, discussed the problems faced by disabled students at universities.
The Nasa Knjiga (Our Book) action, implemented by White Cane Association, aims to provide each student with textbooks in a form most suited to their needs. Vesna Nestorovic, President of the Association, said blind and vision-impaired students should have access to electronic books, since that is the form best suited to their studies.

Indian Educational Satellite to transmit live audio for blind students
Now, visually impaired people in India can have access to the latest information and can refer to it any time. A unique network configuration developed by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) will help transmit live audio for blind students and even enable the transfer and printing of audio data files with the help of a Braille printer.
