Who really cares about Disability?

By Shruti Pushkarna

Over the last year-and-a-half, through this column, I have highlighted the sheer neglect and absence of empathy towards persons with disabilities. It is apparent in our policies, provisions, their implementation, legal framework, news coverage and above all in our general lingo. We don’t care about the disabled. As harsh as it may sound, it’s true.

Inclusion The Motto

I just wanted to share something that I've been working on for quite a while with you all.
It started out as a youtube channel known as "Inclusion The Motto", the idea behind which was to bridge the gap between blind and sighted, to empower and educate sited folk on how us blind do various things, to also hopefully try to reduce some of the not-too-great ideologies they hold about us, all the stereotypes etc. I often think it is also the lack of knowledge and not ignorance that may lead to such ideas or encounters.

Webinar on Kitchen Management

Have you ever tried preparing a delicious food item by your self, but your blindness prevented you from doing so and you start losing hope?
A grilled green sandwich or a pizza or stuffed paratha, which one sounds most mouth watering? which one you've tried to cook on your own? Have tried cutting vegetables or fruits? Dared to make paneer or
butter or Ghee  at home?
All this may sound complicated and challenging for visually impaired but is equally fun with a bit of hand-holding and practice.
