As many as 600 ophthalmologists, including vitreo retina postgraduates and those who had acquired an update on the latest techniques and technology of vitreo retina disorder management that are constantly evolving, participated in the international conference.

23-year-old Nisha Shaikh from Mumbai was in Class 9 when she was unable to write her exams due to sudden vision loss. Her family or school didn’t know how to help her. After a gap of two years, she managed to clear Class 10 with the help of a scribe. Nisha was forced to opt for Arts, assuming that blind people cannot study Commerce.
The readers must be aware of the fact that Late Sh. Madanlal Khandelwal had always thought and contributed for the betterment of the blind brothers and sisters of India despite living abroad for years. His thoughts and ideas were creative. He was not a preacher, but he certainly wanted to prove his worth. It is true that he always lived a saintly life. Therefore, the Confederation has been organizing Braille Essay competition to commemorate his contributions for last several years.
Marga Schulze Merit Scholarship but it is meant for male blind students only. Further, this is a new
scheme and is applicable only upto March, 2022.

The first differently-abled female Pakistani diplomat, Saima Saleem was born on August 10, 1984. In her early years, she was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa - an incurable eye disease that made Saleem blind at the age of 13.

Visually impaired voters will vote through Braille signage on the EVM. Disabled voters and senior citizens will be provided transportation facility from home to the polling booth and back. They could seek help on the helpline number. They also have an option of postal ballot, said State Coordinator for Accessible Election Ajai Srivastava and State Nodal Officer of Election Department Neeraj Sharma today.
