Visual impairment not a hurdle to this IAS officer
RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: “I do not want to sit in my office chamber and speak something. I want to mingle with people to know their problems. I know my limitations, but I am confident of overcoming all the challenges,” said Katta Simhachalam, Sub-Collector of Rampachodavaram Revenue Division. The 31-year-old visually challenged IAS officer took charge as the Sub-Collector of Rampachodavaram on Saturday. The very next day of assuming office, he visited Indukurupeta, a Polavaram submergence village in Devipatnam mandal, and interacted with local people to know their problems.




32-year-old Navnath resides in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. At the age of twelve, he lost his eyesight and was confined in his home for the next thirteen years. Born to a poor family with limited resources or knowledge about life with blindness, Navnath had to give up on education and personal independence.
