BENGALURU : The differently-abled in the city can get a chance to be a part of what has been termed as India’s first Accessible Bowling, to be held on Church Street. The event has been organised by Enable Travel, a startup that focuses on curating travels for the differently-abled. It is open for all categories of the disabled, the physically-disabled, visually-impaired and those with hearing problems. Speaking with City Express, Debolin Sen, founder of Enable Travels, says, “This is a first-of-its-kind bowling experience and it is open for all categories of the differently-abled.

We hope to attract around 20 to 25 ‘special’ people for the event.” The entire venue is accessible by them and the startup has made its own customisation to the bowling ramps. “We fabricated and designed the ramps ourselves so that those on wheelchairs or with other physical handicaps can enjoy the sport. The toilets are already accessible and so is the entire facility,” adds Debolin.

The team at Enable Travel say that the promotions for the event have been going on for nearly three weeks. Following the bowling event, another event called Travel Tales will be held with the participants and a panel of experts. Travel Tales event has been organised before in the city where panelist discuss issues of traveling by and for the differently-abled.

“Last time we had dumb charades session for the differently-abled. The Travel Tales event has also been organised in Mumbai and Delhi. We share tips as well as our own itinerary and travel plans for the people that have become quite popular,” adds Debolin.

Asked about the trend with regard to travelling by the differently-abled and Debolin highlights, “It is not very different from what people without disabilities want. However, it is about the facilities available for them for the travel to be smooth. Destinations such as Goa and Kerala are quite popular and many foreign destinations are also quite popular,” adds Debolin.Enable Travel has a panel of disabled experts on board to curate itineraries for the differently-abled people. “Bengaluru is definitely a very important hub for us in South India and we hope to organise many such events in the city regularly,” adds Debolin.
