Advanced Computer Training (6 Months duration) for Visually Impaired by Mitra Jyothi

 

Mitra Jyothi announces the next batch of Computer Training or the visually disabled.

 

 

This is an initiative from Mitra Jyothi towards imparting quality computer training for people with visual impairment. The main aim of this course is to make the candidates "Computer Literate" and train them to become independent and efficient users of the computer in today's electronic world. This will increase employment opportunities for the visually disabled, help them do better in existing jobs, guide them for higher education while making them confident individuals.

 

Course Highlights and Contents:

 

Keyboard orientation and Typing practice with software “Talking Typer”

 

· Basics of Software, Hardware and Network

· Introduction to Assistive technologies for visually impaired.

· Basic concepts such as Desktop, Taskbar, Menus, Editing, Dialog box, File/Folder management etc…

· Screen readers, NVDA settings and help

· MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook

· Scanning, printing, CD burning and other applications

· Internet browsing, Internet based Email, on-line chat, internet calling, social networking, reading websites, on-line file transfer etc…

 

Teaching aides and equipment used:

 

1.  Computers with

 

a.  Windows7 operating system and

b.  Office 2007

c.  NVDA

d.  Talking Typer

 

2.  Self paced exercises for each concept.

3.  Test for final assessment.

4.  Designed Curriculum with computer concepts and employment aspects.

5.  Tactile Diagrams

 

 

Communication Skills and Mobility training:

 

Mitra Jyothi provides basic spoken English courses and mobility(both indoor and outdoor) training to all its students.

 

Course Details:

 

Timings : 9:30AM - 5:00PM, Monday-Saturday

Date    : Monday, 4th July to Saturday, 31st December 2016

Seats   : 20

Place   : Mitra Jyothi Campus, HSR Layout

 

Eligibility:

 

Any visually impaired person, who has completed a minimum education of 12th standard.

 

Joining Procedure:

 

Candidates have to take an evaluation test for checking their eligibility. Candidates will be considered as eligible only if they pass the evaluation tests. Evaluation can be done on-line or over the phone for out station candidates.

 

Upon successful completion of the evaluation test:

 

1. Candidates have to register at Mitra Jyothi for the course; the registration fee for the course is Rs. 200.

2. Refundable deposit of Rs. 500 needs to be paid

3. Accommodation with food is available at a nominal charge. All students will stay at Mitra Jyothi's dormitory during the course of the training.

4. The training is open to boys/men and girls/women.
