In the case of direct recruitment from the open market to Level-1 posts (Pay Scale: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900),
candidates who have completed apprenticeship training (CCAA) in Railway establishments and hold a
National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) will be given preference for up to 20% of the vacancies, subject to
fulfillment of the eligibility criteria as prescribed by RRB/RRC
Western Railway invites ONLINE applications from interested candidates for engagement as Act Apprentices
against 5,349 slots, notified for training in designated trades under the Apprentices Act, 1961, at various
Divisions and Workshops under the jurisdiction of Western Railway for the year 2025–26
Applicants must have completed 15 years of age and must not have attained 24 years of age as on
23/03/2026.
Persons with Disabilities (PWD): Upper age limit relaxed by 10 years
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:-
Applicants must have already passed the prescribed educational qualification as on the date of issue of this
notification, i.e., 18/02/2026, as detailed below:
I. Educational Qualification:-
Applicants must have passed Matriculation (10th class) under the 10+2 examination system with a
minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board
Technical Qualification:-
Applicants must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade
Applicants whose SSC or ITI results are awaited as of the date of this notification are not eligible to
apply.
Applicants who have failed in ITI should not apply. If any such applicant is inadvertently engaged, their
apprenticeship will be terminated immediately without any further notice.
No fee is required to be paid by SC/ST/PwBD/Women applicants.

Low vision means a person with impairment of vision of less than 6/18 to 6/60 with best correction in the better eye or
impairment of field in any one of the following categories : i) Reduction of visual fields to less than 50 degrees.
ii) Hemianopia with macular involvement. iii) Altitudinal defect involving the lower visual fields.
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) who wish to avail the benefit of reservation must
produce a valid Disability Certificate issued by a competent authority, i.e., a Medical Board duly
constituted by the Central or State Government, which must include at least one specialist from the
relevant field for assessing the disability. The Disability Certificate must be in the prescribed format as
per Annexure–‘E’ and Annexure–‘F’ attached to this notification.
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates with disabilities other than those specified
in this notification should not apply under the PwBD category, as they will not be eligible for any
reservation, concessions, or facilities applicable to PwBD applicants
Selected applicants shall undergo Apprenticeship Training for a period of one year.
Stipend:-
Selected candidates engaged as Apprentices shall undergo apprenticeship training for a period of one
year and will be paid a stipend at the prescribed rate during the training period, as per As per extant rules
& directives issued by Railway Board from time to time.
