Bengal gets its 1st Braille Constitution

Kolkata: In a first in Bengal, the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS) published a Braille version of the Constitution of India, said Vice-Chancellor, Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti.
The Braille Constitution will empower the  visually-impaired students,”Chakrabarti added.
PhD scholar at WBNUJS, Arnab Roy, who is part of the initiative, said they would also convert other reading materials to benefit such students.
Roy is also the director (operations) of IDIA charitable trust, which helped WBNUJS in this initiative.
It took over two years to complete 16 volumes of the Braille. The VC thanked Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys School Academy, Narendrapur for helping them in the initiative. The two alumni of WBNUJS, Biswajit Shil and Saik Jiyarul Hoque, said they would be able to refer to the Constitution frequently. Earlier, we studied the Constitution in the digital mode,” they said.
