A blind girl participates in Miss India auditions in Bhubaneswar on Sunday | EXPRESS
BHUBANESWAR: In a first-of-its-kind event for visually impaired persons, the Miss India Contest for the Blind and Low Vision Girls will be held at Mumbai this year. The branches of National Association for the Blind (NAB) is carrying out selection programmes to shortlist participants for the event across the country.
The NAB, Odisha conducted a programme at the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped (VRCH) here on Sunday. Of 56 participants, 14 were selected in the first round. On August 28, the second round of selection will be held at VRCH where two completely blind and two from the partially blind segment will be shortlisted. The four contestants will take part in the pre-finals scheduled to be held in September.
The judges of the contest will shortlist 12 contestants out of all participants who would be trained under the guidance of a choreographer and personality development trainer. The finals will be held during October and November where participants will receive a 15-day training before the main event.
The rounds will include questionanswer session, talent show and ramp walk. Participants will be asked about their ambition in life by celebrities and eminent citizens.
