CHENNAI: In an attempt to empower persons with vision-related disabilities with computer skills, the Karna Vidya Technology Centre in Guindy will start its Third batch of computer training course from October 7.

The six-month free course, which includes four months basic foundation course and two months skilled employability training, is available for 20 visually impaired students. “The course is designed not only to enable the visually impaired students to work with MS word, excel and internet, but also equips them with exposure to daisy format, getting to work with screen readers and other software besides helping them work around specific disabilities,” said Raghuraman, centre coordinator, KVTC.

Eligibility criteria could be any persons with vision-related disabilities with graduation or a diploma, Classes 10 and 12 pass. Maximum age limit is 35 years.

Also send a mail with your full name, personal details and qualification to kvtc.chennai@gmail.com, after which, candidates will be short-listed after the initial phone interview. If you’re from Chennai, initial assessment interview will be conducted in person at the KVTC Centre, Guindy. If candidates require help with accommodation during the course, you can send a request to the company, which will help you find one. It will also provide assistance finding placements in organisations.
