India is hosting the worlds highest chess event 'the 14th IBCA Chess Olympiad 2012' for visually impaired, this is the only time it is happening outside Europe since its inception in 1959.

More than 180 players from 35 countries with former World Champions, more than 25 International Masters and 100+ FIDE Rated Players will be taking part.

The main sponsors of the Olympiad is TATA Group and is organised by All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) under the aegis of International Braille Chess Association & All India Chess Federation. The event will be held from 9th to 19th August 2012 at  Hotel Royal Le Meridien, Chennai

Chess is the only game where blind persons can play at par with a sighted counter part, hence this game has a special relevance in the life of a visually challenged.
