Odisha Disabled Peoples’ Network coordinator Sanyas Behera has reiterated that the State Government must appoint a disabled person as the State Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). “The Selection Committee headed by Women and Child Development Minister Usha Devi will sit tomorrow to select the new Commissioner of the State Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). We request them to kindly appoint an eligible disabled person in the crucial post,” Behera said.
Behera said, “Earlier on two occasions two disabled persons, Anuradha Mohit and Prasanna Kumar Pinj were appointed as Central Commissioner of PWDs and their performance were excellent. Hence, there is no issue to appoint PWDs as the Commissioner in the State.” He also urged the Government to enrol a disabled person in the Selection Committee.
