In India, according to Census 2001, there are 2.19 crore persons with disabilities in India who constitute 2.13 percent of the total population and only 34 per cent disabled are employed. The Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995 provides three percent reservation in employment in the all Govt. establishments. However, status of employed disabled is not good. There has been an increasing recognition of abilities of persons with disabilities and emphasis on mainstreaming them in society based on their capabilities.
Considering rapid growth of employment opportunities for disabled people, the CRC Patna is striving to develop appropriate skills in persons with disabilities, required to employment in organised, unorganised sector, private sector as well as self employment and committed to make them able to lead a better quality of life.
Presently, CRC propose to organize an “Employment fair for Disabled” on 4.10.13 at CRC Patna, with prime objective to provide employment in private sector, placement guidance and encourage self-employment by facilitating concessional loan, tax concessions, exemptions from duties, preferential treatment for procurement of goods and services etc. it is expected that approximately 20 leading employers may visit to proposed employment fair.
CRC propose to cover all types of disabled (Professional, Technical, Vocational, non technical degree holder), irrespective of age caste or creed. The women with disabilities are given priority in services.
