A two-day programme titled ‘Samartha’, which was organised here for the visually-impaired children, concluded on Saturday. As many as 84 children from different schools and institutions participated in various sports and cultural events.
State Planning Board Advisor Rabinarayan Das, district Collector Sanatan Mallick, DIG (Eastern Region) Aseet Panigrahi, retired IPS Harmohan Dash, scuba diver Sabir Baux graced the concluding function as guests. A play titled ‘Bhagabata Tungi’ performed by students enthralled the audience.
“This is for the second year we oraganised a district-level programme for the visually-impaired children. The main objective was to create a platform for them to show their talent and to instill in them that they very much part of the society,” said Krushnagopal Panda, an organiser. Among others, Sanjib Giri, Bikram Panda and Sanjay Das coordinated the programme.
