HYDERABAD: Securing a gold medal in university is every student’s dream. Twentytwo-year-old Pavithra Molugu neither saw this dream nor claims to have worked tirelessly to attain this.
Having achieved this, however, despite being visually challenged, Pavithra generously gives credit to her family and friends who supported her all the way for her success.
Born in a middle class family in Kukatpally, Pavithra, on Wednesday, at the 16th convocation of University of Hyderabad did not just win a gold. She was awarded two gold medals by Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ESL Narasimhan.
The visually challenged student of MA (History) won two gold medals - namely Andhra Bank Medal and Andhra Pradesh History Congress Medal for women topper. Even while her achievement was being applauded by the audience, Pavithra, who hails from a humble background, said, “I just wanted to get through the course. I am very happy with my present achievement and this moment has put greater responsibilities on me.”
In a subject like History where one requires to read extensively, she wants to thank her friends for the constant support.
“The software for us really helped me a lot. Even otherwise, my mother would read out and record running notes from my friends. I also listened to recorded lectures,” added Pavithra.
Next, she wants to pursue a doctorate in History at University of Hyderabad and strongly believes that she can realise her dream.
