The Governor of Uttarakhand, Dr KK Paul released a book, ‘Visual Disability–A Resource Book for Teachers,’ at the Raj Bhawan on Monday. The book is compiled by subject specialists and National Institute of Visually Handicapped (NIVH), Dehradun. Speaking at the  ceremony organised on the occasion, the Governor said that the resource book is dedicated to providing education to the visually challenged children and would prove valuable for all professionals engaged in this task.

Praising the effort of the Principal of NIVH, Dehradun and all the specialists involved in writing the book, the Dr Paul said that such informative and direction giving books are rare. He said that the research based book would be helpful for the teachers, trainee teachers and those engaged in wholesome development of the visually impaired in the country.  Terming NIVH as a capable centre for developing inclusive policies, programmes, training and developmental activities for visually impaired, the Governor said that the institute has done a commendable work in sphere of developing literature, equipment and technology for them.

The ceremony was attended by Director of NIVH, Anuradha Dalmiya, educationalist Dr Daljit Kaur, Sriram Mittal, Principal of NIVH Kalamvir Singh Jaggi and Brain Development Officer Virendra Singh. Large number of teachers, students and trainees were also present on the occasion.
