HC lifts stay on KPSC technical, non-technical appointments

The High Court on Friday vacated the stay on appointments to 20 KPSC technical and non-technical posts, the notification for which was issued by the KPSC on January 18, 2012.

A division Bench of Chief Justice D H Waghela and Justice A S Bopanna passed the order on a public interest petition filed by the National Federation for the Blind which contended that such persons were not given the benefit of reservation.

The Bench directed the authorities to continue the selection process by including reservation for the visually impaired.

Notices Ordered

The High Court on Friday ordered notices to State government, Home Department, DG&IGP, City police commissioner and Devanahalli Sub-inspector in connection with a petition filed by Gow-Gyan Foundation seeking action against illegal cow export in Devanahalli area.

The high court also ordered notice to the State government on PIL filed by the state unit of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh alleging illegal mining in lakes at Anekal taluk.

The counsel for the petitioner said there are 238 lakes in Anekal taluk of which many had been encroached upon by the real estate mafia.

Despite many representations and complaints to the authorities, no action had been taken.
