Kotrabasappa family of Kaddirampur signs consent letters to donate eyes

Four generations of K. Kotrabasappa’s family, comprising 28 members, in Kaddirampur village, adjacent to the world famous Hampi, have proved to be Good Samaritans through their noble act of volunteering to donate their eyes and distribution of saplings to increase green cover.

The role model act of the entire joint family, with agriculture as the main occupation, was to make the 90th birthday of Kariyamma, wife of Kotrabasappa, and the marriage of their grandson Anand Kumar memorable. All of them signed consent letters to donate their eyes on Thursday on the occasion of Kariyamma’s birthday. On Friday, saplings of teak, almond and silver oak were distributed to the invitees who had come to bless the newly-wed Anand Kumar and his wife Arathi.

“We took a decision to donate our eyes with the only aim that at least some of the visually impaired could get sight to look at this beautiful world. We also decided to distribute saplings to encourage people to plant more trees to increase green cover,” K. Prashant, Kotrabasappa’s grandson, who is into business, told The Hindu .

Prashant and other members of the family have also been voluntarily donating blood during the World Blood Donation Day.
