Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the Modern Children Home (Adarsh Balika Grih) at Mashobra in Kasumpati assembly constituency to cost `8 crore.

The children home besides having hostel for around 100 such children will also have other amusement facilities including indoor games.Singh directed the officials for early completion of the project and said that he would inaugurate the same on 1st June 2017.

He said that the Government also proposed to construct a residential institution in Shimla for 50 mentally challenged children which would run in partnership with experienced NGOs.

To cater to the needs of visually impaired, hearing impaired and orthopedically handicapped children and to ensure their enrolment in special ITI at Sundernagar, special hostel for 150 such girls with the cost of Rs. 10 crore would be made operational in 2016-17, he added.

Social Justice and Empower Minister, Dhani Ram Shandil listed various development activities of the department. Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment, Anuradha Thakur said that 51 posts had been created for Bal Ashrams all over the State which would be filled up soon. She also detailed about the project.

Director, Social Justice and Empower, Mansi Sahai Thakur revealed that the installation of CCTV

cameras was under process in all such Bal Ashrams in a phased manner.
