Identity cards and photo voter slips had been printed in Braille for the convenience of visually impaired persons in the state, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anurag Agarwal.
Apart from this, many types of facilities are being provided to specially abled voters, including the provision of wheelchairs, ramps at polling stations and transport facilities.
The CEO said the number of identified disabled voters in the Lok Sabha election-2019 was 1,04,000. He said the number had increased to 1,38,196 in the General Assembly Election because of the tremendous efforts being done in the SVEEP across the state.
He said as on October 4, there were 11,660 visually impaired voters, 8,428 speech and hearing impaired voters, 79,537 specially abled voters and 38,571 other divyang voters in the state.
Agarwal said pick-and-drop facility would be provided to bring all specially abled voters to the polling booth along with wheelchairs for people unable to walk. He said ramps would also be arranged at each polling station. In addition, the NCC, NSS and Red Cross volunteers will also be arranged to help them.
Agarwal said the visually impaired and disabled voters unable to press the machine button could take a colleague along with them to cast their votes but the assistant must be of 18 years or above.
